ChooseKC
ChooseKC, a B2B organization, is dedicated to the promotion and sustainability of independent and locally owned businesses in the KC Metro area. We look to strengthen and connect networks of local businesses who are dedicated to building a strong local economy and choosing Kansas City.
Our definition of Independent and Locally-owned businesses is as follows:
ChooseKC builds services around these key guiding principals:
Buy Local and support local producers of products, food, and services.
Grow the Local Economy by keeping profits local where feasible, hiring local residents, and supporting local supply chains.
Promote Inclusive and Diverse Local Businesses.
Build Local Businesses as a source of growth, economic development, employment, and local pride.
Support Local Retail in a sustainable, profitable, and adaptable environment to serve local communities and grow the local economy
Promote a Healthy Local Environment by using green building standards, reducing travel required to bring goods to market, and reusing and renewing where possible.
ChooseKC will add value to existing and new businesses through these key services:
1) Support Services – connect local businesses to each other for sourcing services and
goods, connect local businesses to temporary “on-call” workers
2) Web site where members advertise specials and the network can generate revenue
3) Government relations and policy advocacy – specific issues related to local business
and B2B networks around issues of sustainability, green development, and support of the
local economy.
4) Affiliation with National Organizations – Business Alliance of Local Living
Economies (BALLE), American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA), New Rules Project, Independent We Stand, and others.
We will create strategic alliances and a sense of community built around the ChooseKC building blocks.
